About De Trafford Wines
Situated 380 m above sea level between the Stellenbosch and Helderberg mountains, De Trafford Wines’ winemaking history dates back to 1976 with the purchasing of the Mont Fleur farm. The estate is home to a wide variety of grapes that are completed by cabernet sauvignon, merlot and chenin blanc grapes sourced from three neighbouring vineyards. With a production line of only 350 cases per year, owners David and Rita can pay attention to detail.
About Sijnn Wines
The sister estate to Stellenbosch’s De Trafford Wines, Sijnn is the new love project of David and Rita Trafford. It, like France’s most famous winemaking area Châteauneuf-du-Pape, is located on a stoney riverbank – a peculiar site for a wine estate. Using Châteauneuf as their example, they set out to Malgas and established the first wine estate in the region.
Sijnn is a Khoisan word for river and is pronounced ‘say-N’.
