This year, Valentine’s Day falls on the weekend. Why not take advantage with a romantic Drakensberg getaway for you and your better half? The berg is full of dreamy activities…
Romance on the Manor
Rekindle the romance and spoil your loved one on a romantic trip for two at Oaklands Country Manor. Our Bruce suite features king-sized bed and a his-and-her sinks in the bathroom. A veranda outside offers the perfect location to take breakfast or dinner with the majestic Drakensberg as a backdrop. If it gets nippy when the sun goes down, you can even set the tone by lighting up the wood-fired fireplace.
Love is in the Air
It’s tough spoiling your fellow on Valentine’s Day, with all the lovey-dovey gifts available. Luckily, we’ve found a romantic adventure that will satisfy both girl and guy – hot air ballooning! Drakensberg Ballooning does 1-hour rides between Winterton and Cathedral Peak. Upon landing, you two lovebirds will be treated to champagne followed by a freshly made breakfast. Just be sure that your better half is an early riser – this Valentine’s Day gift starts at 5 in the morning!
Sweep her Off her Feet
A romantic romp on horseback is sure to make your sweetheart swoon. You’ll be sure to impress if you wrap the excursion up with a champagne picnic of strawberries, chocolates, cheeses and cold meats. Remember to book ahead to avoid disappointment. Horse riding at Oaklands is available all-year-round, so it can make a great birthday or anniversary gift as well. Choose from three rides – Happiness Rock, which takes you to breathtaking views of the valley, the Vlei, which incorporates the village and dam where you can spot a variety of indigenous bird species, and the Escarpment.
Chocolates and roses are all a little overdone… Head to the Drakensberg for some romantic outdoor fun.
